That's not true. Felt tip pens are problematic for many types of scanners. Just because it looks black to the human eye with normal lightning does not mean that it will look black to the scanner that is not using normal light.
You don't know how scanners work. Many do not use a white light source. I've written firmware and driver software for scanners. I used to work for a major manufacturer of them that holds most of the critical patents that others license. But in this case, it appears that the problem is ink bleeding through to the other side, thus invalidating the ballot.
Then they must have been one hell of a sharpie - because mine didn't. I didn't use the ones they used. I used the same as I use as always at home. It was accepted.
It's a bunk excuse for them to throw away ballots.
I have been voting for decades... there have been all kinds of pens available.. from felt to ink to gel pens...
I would hope the Precinct Leader would have tested the optical scanner with a wide variety of pens...
also I have never heard of an optical scanner having this issue with a dark pen... normally if you don't 'FULLY' color in the oval (some people put on x... other a check mark... some just draw a line...) that causes a mis-read.
pencils on SATs etc have had a issues with #3 pencils that are not 'dark enough' -
And then of course you have to ensure that ONLY your opponents get the 'bad pens' and exactly how people vote is really tough to guess... Trump picked up a ton of Cuban and Black votes in Florida... which pen do you give to who??
Don't forget AZ. Whoever swapped out pens with sharpees is going to jail!
And Virginia.
The sharpie thing is a BS excuse. It was NEVER a problem before.
its a diversion

Nope. It's called a DOT. it's not transparent.

The problem is real.

Fox news has predicted that juan williams head is now four feet up his ass.
optical readers can tell the difference???
They say the machines don't read felt tip markers and many people are saying they checked their status and their ballots were cancelled.
If it's like a Scantron, it may be an issue with the reflectivity of the ink.

The precinct leaders did check then made sure that the scanners were calibrated such that they would not pick up Sharpies. Easy to do.
Illinois this 100% at my polling place, is this verified fucky?
Go online and make sure your ballot was accepted.
