China is abusing it, but this fuckery started over a century ago.

Bolsheviks laid the seeds back around the turn of the century and for at least two decades after. The Soviet Union took what had been laid down and pushed it even further right up until they were about to fall. China took what was already in place and was already moving and just patted them on the back and gave them more resources.

Except that's shortsighted at best, and idiotic at worst. Having global control means nothing if we slip backwards thanks to it turning the population into morons. (something we're seeing even today with everyone so reliant on something like the internet) We're not even close to being at the point where it's even remotely achievable for anything long term and in the short term it's just going to cause massive infrastructure problems that cannot be solved with current tech.

All they'll do is force themselves to run to their bunkers and hide out, giving the few that are willing to actually do something plenty of time and opportunity to concrete up their exits and air exchange units since we don't have Fallout levels of vault technology yet.

I was in the military and had a clearance that let me see most of our "advanced tech." Yes, it was more advanced, no it was nowhere near what would be needed for what you're claiming. Another couple of decades and it might be, but not now.

The reason they're rushing now is because they know there's a massive wave of pushback that formed that would screw with their laid out plans. We aren't supposed to be at this point for another decade, (agenda 2030 anyone?) but the rising nationalism and push back to full globalization and mass importations cranked things up to where they couldn't wait the full time.
