I voted early on Nov 2nd (mesa,AZ) in person and my ballot was verified and counted. I got a regular ink pen while my parents got sharpies but theirs still counted. My sister voted on the 3rd at the same place and was given a sharpie and I'm still waiting to hear from her if hers was counted.
