They separate the ballots from the envelopes in order to count the ballot right? So how could you ever go back and verify that a ballot was fraudulent: fake signatures, bad date on postmark etc. Can they track a ballot back to a person if the envelope is gone?

It gets dirty. In 2000 alot of it came down to how the ticket was punched. It isn't sane like 'compare driver's license scan to records and determine if person is allowed to vote'
