I voted early in CA. My ballot was printed and they gave me a privacy sleeve to place it in as I walked over to the machine to submit the ballot into. There was a poll worker there who was there to assist who could clearly see who I voted for (and they made it very obvious they looked at my ballot) before it was submitted.

I checked and my ballot was counted, but this lack of privacy had to have affected many voters in this county.

Even the digital machines were totally unprivate. Like an enormous bright iPad at a perfect angle for spying on

Yep, exactly how it was when I voted. Huge screen that was placed against the walls of the room so basically everyone could see what votes you were placing. It would have been more private to vote on paper, but I opted for the electronic method simply because a hand filled ballot could have been rejected if it were filled out in sharpie or the wrong ink or whatever.
