Yes, is mind blowing that they don't have voters ID. You need an official federal/state/social security ID. The right way to do it is:
Register your home address as usual.
The state automatically assign you a place to vote nearby to your official home address.
The place where you are register, has a list of people register to vote there with their IDs.
You go vote, show your ID, if you are suppose to vote there, you get cross and can't vote again. If you are not register there, you get kick away by the police.
If you foreseen that can't go to your official voting place, ask for mail vote. You cast your vote, and get deleted from the registration place and also get cross and can't vote again.
This is how it works more or less in the rest of the world and nobody is called racist for this. Even people that have legit medical conditions and can't even go out for mail vote can ask for delegating their vote to someone else in their name.
This is mandatory if you want to legitimize elections. Otherwise everybody can claim that everybody else is doing voting fraud.

Yes ,its weird that the US don't require ID for voting. Everywhere in the world ,you can't vote without ID. Even in Africa. In France, if you can't vote in person the election day, you gives a proxy to someone to vote on your behalf and the said person needs to come with the letter proxy and your ID. Otherwise,no vote for you. There are physical vote places in all countries where France has an embassy so even you are abroad, you can vote in person. Also, elections dare usually held on Sunday so a maximum of people can vote.
Also,another weirdness of the US vote system is that people register by their political affiliation. This is insane. Noone should know or assume who you are voting for before you cast your vote. That makes cheating and vote suppression very easy.
