I was a poll watcher in Phx suburb. It sounds like polling stations with scanners gave the voters Sharpies, while those with no scanners gave the voters ballpoint pens. It sounds like that's what you got, too.

At my station, no scanners and only ballpoint pens. According to the online check, my vote went through. Did you check yours? https://my.arizona.vote/AbsenteeTracker.aspx (It says "absentee tracker" but I voted early and in person and did find my vote.

There's a post here with links where you can check your vote in most states.

I think mine said "accepted and counted." I voted early and in person, not by mail (I told them NOT to send me a mail-in ballot and didn't get one, so I hope that didn't give them permission to print it out and give it to somebody else)

I voted on election day in the east valley and all they had was Sharpies. Every dot on both sides of the ballot bled through. I figured that since the machine result was good, that my vote was properly counted.

I was a poll observer for, and also voted in, a polling station in suburban Phoenix. Every voter I saw was given a black ballpoint pen and specifically told to use that pen and no other. I got one, too, for voting. Pens were turned in after voting, cleaned with spray cleaner, and reused.

Were definitely not Sharpies. However, this station did not use scanners. Ballots were filled out, placed in the envelope, and dropped into the ballot bin - all done by the voter.

It sounds like places with scanners used Sharpies, while those with no scanners used ballpoint pens.

It isn't an issue. It was debunked. The machines are calibrated for sharpie and pens. Source: I voted in Scottsdale with a sharpie.

"Despite a flood of social media posts on the rejection of Sharpie-completed ballots, Maricopa County officials said Wednesday on Twitter that the markers are "not a problem for our tabulation equipment, and the offset columns on ballots ensure that bleed-through won’t impact your vote."

Did your polling station have scanners, or did you just drop the finished ballot into a bin?

And if you used a Sharpie, did the poll workers give you one and tell you to use it, or did you bring it with you?

It is sounding like polling stations with scanners gave voters Sharpies, while stations with no scanners gave voters black ballpoint pens.

I was an observer at a station with "no scanners/ballpoint pens." It's also what you would expect to be a conservative area.

Almost sounds like Sharpie/scanner polling stations were more inner city and ASU campus areas.

We had scanners and they only had sharpies to use. Apparently, Republican State and county officials are satisfied with the explanation they got. If it was from Dem apparatchik Adrian Fontes, I wouldn't trust it.

My polling station did have a scanner that I manually put my ballot into. The sharpies were waiting in the voting booths and I did my sign in on a touch screen which verified my current address since my license has an old address and they needed another proof of residence which I had with me (old bill). When I was walking around to pick my station to vote, all of them had the sharpies.

Btw, my polling station was at the intersection of Pima Rd and Pinnacle Peak in North Scottsdale above the 101.

did your vote count? Were you able to find it online?

Yes, I verified it online last night with my affidavit # I received earlier in the mail with my mail in ballot.

I just tested it. I always use sharpie felt-tip pens. One of the reasons I like them is that they don't bleed through.

However, if you scribble a bunch on the same spot, like filling in the circles on a ballot, then they do bleed through.

If you know what you're doing, you can fill in a circle more carefully, to prevent the bleed-through, and thus do a fake "debunking" of the problem.
