I wasn't a big fan of him when he was Gov of my state. But then I was a brain-washed liberal during that time.

My respect for him skyrocketed after that VP debate with Kamala.

Same. I'm a gay pede and I was so "scared" of this man because of all the bullcrap I heard about him being for conversion therapy...until I found the real quote and couldn't believe how MSM tried to brainwash me.

After hearing him speak in the debate + seeing how much he's backing his president, I'm a big fan.

I don't even get it. Conversion therapy! Oh my goodness!

What is it? Oh, if I have gay or transgender impulses and I'm not comfortable with them and would like help being a straight person in my birth gender, I can see a psychologist? Okay!

Hey, if I AM comfortable with being gay or trans, can I skip seeing a psychologist? I can? Okay!

What the hell is the problem with it?

I think that's where it got mixed up.

MSM was reporting Mike Pence was FOR conversion therapy and I (and many in the LGBT community if you ask them) was led to believe Pence would make it a thing that had to happen.

Where he never said that at all.

I don't believe it works, but if someone doesn't /want/ to be a certain way, it's their right to seek therapy or handle it how they want to.

Yeah. Look, I used to be a bisexual crossdresser. Now I'm a straight, married father who hung up his heels and doesn't dress anymore. I'm against gay marriage. I'm not against gay people doing their thing or forming a legal trust, but I do believe the term and institution of marriage is sacred and not to be changed, especially over the will of the voters.

(Ha! We're seeing now exactly how much Democrats care about the "will of the voters" aren't we?).

I don't know if conversion therapy works or not. My guess is it's like most therapy, and most therapy sucks. If you want to, maybe you can. If you don't really want to, you can't.

I DID have a therapist that was encouraging me to transition to a woman and that messed me up for a good few weeks, so I know THAT happens.

"Conversion therapy" has become an ideological boondoggle for the following reasons: some gay people were bombarded with straight porn and even live hookers trying to seduce them. (Whether that ever actually happened or not I can't say) Suddenly it was touted as though EVERY instance of conversion therapy is nothing but that. I'm ok with behavior like that being stopped, but no way was that done in every instance.

So more MSM influencing opinion, rather than reporting.

Yeah, well. I think Psychologists are mostly idiots. You have a few brilliant ones (Jordan Peterson for one) but a lot of kooks.

Straight porn and live hookers? Sheesh. Look, I think it might be able to train your mind to get aroused to different types of sex. (And man, the internet and internet porn sure is good at that) But I doubt that's a useful way.

If someone has gay ideation or transgender issues because of unresolved issues, then work on those issues. I once met a young man who thought he wanted to be a woman. (actually, more than once). Upon some conversation, found out he had a really, really overbearing father. I could understand he had a great deal of trouble relating to his father's brand of masculinity. I think a good strategy of therapy would have been offering a different kind of masculinity. (Like a scholar or caretaker rather than soldier or police officer). Unfortunately, he wanted to become a woman and ... I think that was a bad plan. Running from the problem instead of facing it. Maybe he could have dealt with the issues with his father and still want to become a woman. Fair enough. But, you know, deal with the unresolved issues before you do the unreversible procedures, you know?

Gay, similar. Maybe there's an unresolved issue, maybe there isn't. It's less irreversible. (Though I think the longer one spends in the scene, the harder it is to get out. Learning to deal with women isn't easy! Takes years to learn, really).

Do we really need a reminder that Mike Pence is anything but 1000% MAGA?

He took his time!

His tweet sounds like the regular lukewarm Repub. Expect more from someone who should be in the trenches with GEOTUS every day!
