Parler is hosted on AWS....

They can be terminated at any moment.

Not your servers, not your platform.

It’s all coalescing into the cloud.

True. It’s near impossible to create the kind of infrastructure needed to launch an app like Twitter without significant investment. The running costs would be sky high too.

Capex vs opex.

Most apps are going to utilize the pay as you go model, which has the benefit of scale without the initial investment costs of capex.

The only problem is, the metal isn’t really yours so the control aspect is gone.

Tough spot for new platforms to be in, especially conservative media sites.

We’ll just construct our own buildings full of server farms. With blackjack. And hookers!

Whoever hosts has the power. Not sure how successful the payg model will be.

That’s essentially what I mean by pay as you go.

That’s how Azure and AWS operate for the most part.

Spin up servers, pay for the per minute use, etc.

They can still yank that service if they deem it to violate some terms.

Giving up a lot of freedom for convenience. In a perfect world that’s okay, but in Wokanda, no guarantees.

Oh I see sorry I thought you meant for the everyday end user not the app developers. Of course cpu/storage/bandwidth. Got ya.

No need to apologize 👍

I think we are in agreement.

Andrew Torba is the only one that is completely independent from big tech. That's where you need to put your time and energy into.

Pedes, this is a great and timely idea. It can be done. But we need to manage a freedom platform much like thedonald.win. We are in real life info warfare, seriously: 4th gen for real. If they could, the globalist oppressors would take this site down too.

It’s time to get to work.

Let's all please leave twitter and facebook and youtube and start our own free speech platform

There are already several. However, the majority of sites most of us use like Breitbart, Gateway pundit and others have refused to cover the other sites. If they would cover these other platforms more people would know about them and join and when I or anyone else tries to inform people in the comment section, the post gets buried. I'm wondering if some of these "conservative" sites are getting kickbacks from those sites for drawing attention to them?

have you not heard of Gab.com?

Great point! How convenient that this free speech platform is completely private.

You a actually can view them without an account now. And you no longer need a phone number to sign up. The UI however, leaves a lot to be desired.. It's not even close to Twitter or Gab yet.

I tried signing up. It’s still asking for a phone number.

The website i use to send postcards and messages to Trump just announced the same thing! They are literally putting their money where their mouth/support is....and leaving Twitter to bleed out.

I think I will join Parler soon. Has Trump started an account there yet?

Trump needs to follow so he won't be censored. His followers will go with.

Get it Maria.

Ugh, Parler is just Twitter Lite. They'll eventually ban you there too. Gab is really the only truly secure place to invest your time and energy in.

I have an account on Parler already, but its kind of weird how its setup. I still use it from time to time, though.
