Exactly they probably felt Trump would have at most a plus 3 margin and not the 7 plus he did for some of the states and it required them to go into over drive with the fraudulent ballots which ended up making it go on for days. No way a handful of states take days (and not even the most populated states) when all the other states were finished Tuesday night.
Yeah if they cheated within the margin of error they probably would have gotten away with it but his lead was so huge at the time of the ballot dumps it was either let him win the state or dump the ballots and they dumped the ballots.
The problem is trump over performed which left them no choice. It's a combination of that and the fact that they are used to getting away with this.
