Think about this: when the son of God was born and lived on Earth, it was in an occupied and suppressed nation.
When he left, it still was.
Trump has often made me wonder if he's being guided by my own Higher Power. Perhaps he is. It seems that way.
I still think he may win, and shockingly so. However if he does not, it will not change the dramatic positive affect he has had on the country. This election is proving that Americans are rejecting the racism of intersectionality, and honestly demonstrates that Trump has cured the racial divide that Obama created. He also set back the globalists and reignited a vision for a strong and respectable America.
I've risen to the challenge this year with a reading plan to go cover to cover in a year. It's tough but deeply inspiring. I would describe myself from just a few years ago as an edgy atheist. But partly due to all this, i have been slowly but steadily attracted to the faith. I feel like i have become a completely new person over the last few years, I have found deep meaning and purpose in life.
And this community played no small part in it. And i am very grateful for that.

To OP, I was never an atheist, baptized catholic but not really brought up in the faith. Decided to take it on my own last year, no church or family influence, and the ride has been amazing to say the least. Life changing really.
I don't pretend to be a Biblical scholar, but I understand that their are a lot of different types of books in the Bible. I've often read that the letters are the most important because they instruct how to live day by day. I don't have that on a good source, but I don't have a good reason to think it's wrong either. I also read that we shouldn't count any words that didn't come from Jesus himself. All I know is I wake up every morning and prey to God to give me guidance for the day. That's what Jesus said we just act for the day.
You're both correct. When we ask Him, God does good for His children. That doesn't always mean giving us what we think we want (winning the lottery, football games), but always in some way meeting our deeper needs.
That means, whoever we pray for doesn't always get elected. I'm sure a lot of people prayed for McCain and Romney. But I think we know now that those two might have been even worse for the country than Obama. God's always working for our good. And now, this does look to be a time of true good versus evil. If Trump wins, it will be a clear rebuke of evil. Let's hope that He delivers this sign.
God has nothing to prove to you. He loves you more than anything, he loves you so much that he gave you free will to make a choice to love Him. Ask for His help in this election, for sure we all are, but don’t risk your salvation on an earthly election. I love you and I will pray for you and our nation. God Bless!
Brother, I won’t even pretend to understand what you may be going through. Because I don’t know, but I can promise you He understands. Would you read Romans 8 37-39 for me. Read them hard, over and over. No matter how alone you may feel, or how hard it may seem. These words are His love for you. Stay strong brother.
The Bible is clear on this: the only reason you are still here is because you have great worth in his eyes. As long as you draw breath, your story continues, and you may hold hope that something will come from the suffering.
The central event of all of human history was birthed of great evil, the unjust execution of the Son of God. Out of that travesty came the Resurrection, a defeat of death itself. God always uses evil, turning it around to produce his astounding good. This story echoes throughout history, again and again. If you turn to God, He promises to use all things to your good. That story will be your story as well.
I can’t pretend to know God’s will. What he has planned for us I’m not for certain, but I do know of God’s love. Even when we don’t think he does. I say read the whole book of Romans, it explains so much and please seek out a church. I’ve only been a Christian for about 3 years, and I’ve learned so much from my local pastor. Find a church family and worship with them. I have never felt more loved in my life then when I met my church family. I will continue to pray for you and I’ll try to answer as many questions as you might have. I love you brother!
You are on the right part pede. Know always that everything that happens is part of God's plan. Even the shit things in life. God gives us hard times to strengthen us for battles yet to come.
Was an atheist. The atheist mindset has a lot of arrogance to it. Now looking back I find it amusing as to how many logical fallacies are present in the atheistic world view which claims to be centred so much around logic.
So to quote from the bible regarding this subject: "Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? 21 For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe." (The entire passage:)
As far as the signs are concerned: After Jesus miraculously feeds over 5000 people he says this:
“Very truly I tell you, you are looking for me, not because you saw the signs I performed but because you ate the loaves and had your fill.
27 Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. For on him God the Father has placed his seal of approval.”
So as far as faith in God based upon earthly signs is concerned:
24 “Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. 26 And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. 27 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.”
Build your house on a rock. Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you.
22 Jews demand signs and Greeks look for wisdom, 23 but we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles,
24 but to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. 25 For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength.
No one can decide that for you, though I'm sure we are happy to assist. Half my family is Lutheran which I understand to be more 'liberal' in translation and half is Roman Catholic which I understand to be 'hardline' in translation. It's likely that you will fit somewhere in between, but I don't have much experience in anything if it isn't on the end of spectra.
I would suggest that sound teaching is more important than the denomination. The Christian claims that scripture is the way that God authoritatively speaks to us. Our leaders have the responsibility to guide and teach from the scripture, objectively. Many people cannot help but preach from their own opinions instead.
So look for a church where the Bible is taught well. Question it according to what you can read for yourself in the book.

Why NT first? I started last year with Genesis 1 and am reading cover to cover. Just barely thru 2 Chronicles.

Dude, brutal stuff there! Haha.

When you've read enough to understand why God doesn't help us win football games, lotteries, and elections, you'll not be an atheist any longer.
You won't last as a Christian if you're expecting parlor tricks, or "deals" with God.

Luke 22:36 <------- Some useful reading.
That's how it happens - see evil for what it is and then look for the truth. Your whole life changes.

Remain on your mission for truth!
I was considering this myself

Which denomination will you go when President Trump finally wins 4 more years?
