The ends justify the means to these people. You change the ends (who was elected by cheating), and it changes the legitimacy of the means. At least in the world of their one guiding priciple, it actually is consistent. It would be hypocritical if they said the ends justify the means, but then changing the ends had no effect on the legitimacy of the means.
