Has this ever happened before? Has a party ever picked up house and senate seats yet lose the election?

For a lot of what we’re seeing hundreds of thousands of people had to fill in Biden then fill in everything else republican which I would imagine is unprecedented.

It doesn't seem right to me either. While I know a couple Never Trump voters most of the people I know who support Trump talked like they were going to vote for him.
