This is the problem with all monopolies (you don't get any attention on other platforms), you are beholden to them and must play by their rules. However, if there was ONE person that could start driving an alternative to twitter, it would be the President. We must move beyond social media though.

Wrong. They ask for zero personal information and even let you log in thru TOR so you can scramble your IP address. They are extremely privacy-friendly which is one of the reasons I use them.

Are you thinking of Parler? That's the other alternative to Twitter and yes they ask for your phone number (which is why I don't use them).
