Well everybody was all fired up about the NSA when the Snowden leaks happened. Now nobody cares anymore. Most people go “Haha, look at this targeted ad for the thing we were just talking out loud about near my cell phone.. creepy.. LOL ok I’m gonna keep using the facefuck app with full microphone permissions!”
I have none of these extremely sketchy social media apps on my phone, have all permissions tightened down as far as I can, I'm using an open source android rom instead of the default carrier bloated opaque OS. Yet still I know I'm not doing anywhere near enough to keep them out of my shit.
Some Android phones (which is Linux) allow to install another version of Android with no google services whatsoever. It should stop companies spying on you but not the NSA.
