As a Veteran l am surprised more have not heard of the likes of Margaret Corbin who fought bravely at Fort Washington, New York & was buried with honors at West Point, she was also the first American female to receive a soldier’s lifetime pension after the war.
There was also Deborah Sampson, who fought disguised as a man & was said to be a crack shot & good hunter ,who would at times fight in the role of what we now call 'Sniper',but more likely as a scout ,which suited her being able to stay undercover.
