Good, we've needed to clear out some Obama era dead weight for a long time now.

Anyone over O6 is at least half politician. Moreso if they were promoted during the previous administration.

Over O5, isn't it? That's the big hurdle. Few O5s make it.

That one's not as clear cut. I'm Naval Aviation, and the Pilots that make it to CO of a squadron aren't necessarily political types, but the ones that aren't tend to stall their career at that level.

The military needs too many O6s to be totally exclusive at that level. I'd say if you make O6 someone thinks you have potential as a politician, but if you make O7, you've definitely been having dinner with some Senators

Interesting, thanks. Seems you should be wary of them, but some may still slip through at that level.

I'd say look at the size of their command. If they're stuffed in some remote small unit where they can finish off their careers without causing trouble, maybe they're worth keeping.

If they've been placed in a high-vis large command with close contact to their superiors, they're probably being groomed.

O5 and O6 as well wield enough power to make political decisions for large swaths of the military. Battalion, brigade, even smaller bases. Gonna need a complete top-down cleaning here...

Most of the people appointed by Trump are Obama era. He had 8 years with his people in charge of whom could get promoted or not.
