There's a reason why boot camp takes 13 weeks to essentially teach grubs how to pull a trigger without blasting their own foot off (hitting your neighbor's foot is considered a marked improvement in technique, keep it up and you'll be an NCO one day), not even the bare basics of how to piss standing up like a man but the minimum "how not to be a dainty fuckup" stuff, and even then a ridiculously large number of people wash out before the end.

You're saying that if we grabbed 100 random people off the streets of Portland and conscripted them into bootcamp, they'd "adapt to the recoil after a couple mags?"

They'd need two weeks just to get over their addictions enough to functionally sight a rifle with warbling all over the place, and then another couple of days to figure out that yes, when you point a rifle at someone and pull the trigger, they're really dead, no "lol PK griefed u noob" and waiting for respawns, after another quarter some of the trainers would grasp that teaching recruits to akimbo fire pistols sideways is fucking retarded, and maybe by the end of the year somebody in the camp would have figured out that guns use something called "ammunition" and you can't just slap the butt against your hand and yell "RELOADING" to magically refill it. And then we'd get into the next big crisis, the revelation that they didn't get used to the recoil, they'd just been firing on empty chambers for the last year straight after they ran out the first clip immediately, and now nobody wants to play war anymore because that really hurts, xir. :(

And that's before we get to next year's first lesson, "Now that we've figured out how to reload and how to squeeze a trigger and everyone has been issued shoulderpads, the next person to spin in a circle while aiming from the hip and screaming '360 noscope!' is out. We've already lost two battalions to that bullshit."
