Remember the tradition of the "town drunk" who served as the valuable moral lesson for the youth of a town about the evils and outcome of alcohol abuse? We now have a national example.
I actually don't mind this. I know people probably won't agree with me, but my point of view is the government shouldn't have a say in what I put in my body. Now if I were to be causing harm to other people, that is where the problem starts.
If I want to take a tab of LSD on a weekend, in my house, responsibly, that should be my right. If a person decides to shoot heroin, and while high hurt somebody, he should be punished accordingly. Now I would honestly be a little happier if meth, coke, and heroin were still illegal, I mainly care about psychedelics that can have a positive impact in certain situations, but this is a compromise I can deal with.
For instance, if I were to demand laws that take your life and lock you up in a cage for having a drink, that would not be a small government (Conservative) position.
The problem with this, IMO, is that the slippery slope seems to be forgotten. Look what happened with, “we just want gay marriage” and now the left is close to normalizing pedophilia.
I think men with guns should come and haul you away, auction your home and property and take your savings for your legal defense, and lock you in a cage. Assuming you've ever had a drink.
If you disagree, you support child molestation.
I reject the entire premise. George Washington would blow your brains out if you showed up at his door trying to arrest him for having an illegal marijuana crop in his back 40.
People seem to be confused about the differences between Conservative and Republican, versus Liberal and Democrat.
Rep and Dem are political parties with a spectrum of beliefs and perspectives collected to form the basis for a political party.
Republicans have several big-government (not Conservative), positions. Prohibition is a big government position. One rare example of Dems opposing big-government control.
Freak is my go to word, many Christians I grew up with in California also use it. And what is Bryson? Is that like an insult like Karen is for the cliché woman who complains to managers?
Yeah, I get the left wing Mommy-government nonsense perspective. I just disagree.
Driving intoxicated, endangers others, it's not a personal choice, it's a choice that effects others. Will you seriously act like a libtwit and pretend you're not capable of comprehending the difference?
Wtf are you talking about? It was sarcasm. Actually it was stemming from thinking about how many illegal immigrants have driven intoxicated and killed people. You need to calm down and think before you attack people. I don't even understand your rant but I get the gist that the dui comment bothered you. I couldn't be more against killing innocent people because you're stupid and selfish enough to drive under influence..or even overly tired for that matter. So back off
As a country, we’ve decided that hard drugs are generally bad when not used accordingly. That’s why laws were voted to restrict them. As a country, we mostly all agree that drugs are bad outside of pharmaceutical uses. That being said, if you don’t like the community as a whole, or country for example, you’re more than welcome to leave or change what the community considers good and bad. We’re a collective, abiding by written and unwritten rules that we all feel comfortable with. There’s nothing wrong with that inherently, but then again, Oregon didn’t like it so they changed their culture/community to be accommodating. I’m tired and still taking, hopefully something made sense.
That passed? Bwahahahahaha! All the Cali bums will end up there. The parks will be unusable for decent people and the crime rates will go up for those needing the money for drugs.
Let's make a deal, since I'm stuck paying taxes in OR and you're probably not?
You can have your Mommy government prohibition laws, to lock people up for no gain in my state. But, your taxes get raised to process and imprison them. Fair?
It's win win. Your Mommy government politicians get to own people like you want, but I won't have to pay for it. Deal?
The world class mental gymnasts in Portland who complain about homeless drug addicts trashing their city voted for this measure. Our family doesn't live in Oregon, but we live close enough to know we'll see the fall out of this decision soon enough.
Weimar republic was what came before the nazis, a hyper liberal Berlin in which elites and elitists from all over Europe and the world would come to participate in some apparently extreme debauchery. It was super "progressive", if you know what I mean. Extreme chaos followed by extreme order.
I should have mentioned that the "extreme debauchery" included group child rape, animal rape and sacrifice in public bars, with participation of elected offiials.

Oregon, our red headed step child
Move drugs, get out the way!

Conservatives agree with you.
I'm a Conservative.
Glad to see the Oregon Leftwaffe get something right.
Not following your comment, explain please?
Conservative = small government.
Prohibition, is the opposite of small government.
For instance, if I were to demand laws that take your life and lock you up in a cage for having a drink, that would not be a small government (Conservative) position.

the best type of voter is the one that will DO ANYTHING for another hit.
Oh freak! I didn’t even think of that!
Oh freak?
"Never let a Mormon set your buzz level" -Ron White
What, Mormons have the monopoly on not cursing?
Conveniently vague and non-committal reply there Bryson.
But, you did say freak instead of fetch, so, I'm not 100% sure here.
Freak is my go to word, many Christians I grew up with in California also use it. And what is Bryson? Is that like an insult like Karen is for the cliché woman who complains to managers?
Is this another benefit to the illegal gang members? They should make driving intoxicated legal and not require licenses while they are at it
Otherwise, you support child rape.

I didn't attack you Cindy, I disagreed with your "sarcastic" argument.
OP believes people being allowed command over their own body, choice, means you support the slippery slope to legalized child rape.
Neither example pass the smell test. DUI is not a personal choice. It effects others. You're making a choice that effects others. That's all.
Oregon accidentally doing the right thing here, is not an endorsement of drunk driving gang members.

If you want to have control over yourself, and make your decisions, you should just leave the country.
You know if you tried to arrest George Washington on that basis, you told him his crops are illegal, he'd kill you. Literally.
"But, society decided General. And, you'll do what you're told.*"
That's when the musket goes off.
That’s enough internet for me tonight, go smoke a bowl and hit that trip train with Taco Bell in sight. I’m out.
Hey no problem buddy. As someone who loves big mommy government, you might be getting your wish shortly. Have a good night.
Careful, they may be scraping your sarcasm for ideas
That passed? Bwahahahahaha! All the Cali bums will end up there. The parks will be unusable for decent people and the crime rates will go up for those needing the money for drugs.
Why would anyone do that? That state is completely screwed!
Let's make a deal, since I'm stuck paying taxes in OR and you're probably not?

Oregon is the new Weimar republic...
Right. Because that's what the Nazis were known for. Personal choice and freedom from government.
Weimar republic was what came before the nazis, a hyper liberal Berlin in which elites and elitists from all over Europe and the world would come to participate in some apparently extreme debauchery. It was super "progressive", if you know what I mean. Extreme chaos followed by extreme order.

Thanks, wasn't familiar.
I side with the Weirmar in that scenario. Nazis just rub me the wrong way, you know?
