Why can't voting machines be modeled after ATM machines?
Step one: When you turn 18 you go to the BMV to get your state ID or Driver License renewed. It has a strip on it that you can scan at a store when purchasing tobacco or alcohol right? I swiped mine at my local polling station so we know it acts like a debit card or credit card magnetic strip.
Step two: Voter Machines are designed like ATM machines. It is equipped with a slot to stick your ID in which then identifies you as well as a camera that snaps a pic of your face, just like ATM's.
Step three:. ID is accepted, photo taken, email sent to voter. Any discrepancies can be verified because if its not your picture that was just emailed to you the vote is negated immediately with a push of a button. Similar to bank apps when you make a change to your user name or password and it sends the "if this is not you" email.
Step four:. 100% touch screen activity that lets you touch your choices, then let's you review your choices for accuracy. Hit enter when you're satisfied with your choices.
Step Five:. As soon as you hit enter it registers the votes in real time immediately. It then releases your ID back to you and send a verification email.
This would avoid waiting until polling stations close to start counting. This would avoid human error from poll workers. This would avoid fraudulent poll workers.
Absentee or mail in issues. Apps available on PC and Smart phones that are capable of scanning your ID and allowing you to access the e-ballotâ„¢ similar to depositing a check using your camera. Your cell or PC has a camera and will snap your pic the same as the voting machine, and functions as the voting machines does. Review, hit enter, done!
Just thinking out loud obviously. There has to be a better way.
This is brilliant. I have said that banks have VERY sophisticated anti-fraud technology and there is no reason elections couldn't use something similar.
