The police will protect their pensions. They will do what they are ordered. Dont kid yourself otherwise.

They proved it in portland, kenosha, philly, etc.

two words: second ammendment.

The responibility to protect the constitution falls on our hands. There's a chance they side with us but we cant count on it.

There won't be a civil war because their plan didn't work. There will be a lot of dead antifa however

In CT, the state police and unions are clearly for Trump. But most police chiefs are the pets of their respective mayors, and they are mostly Democrat.

Will rank and file officers file under ranking leadership? Hard call.

Put yourself in their position. You got 15 years in, 10 to go for a fat 70-80% pension, healthcare , etc, for the rest of your life. After 25 years in that shitty job dealing with lowlifes, your plant is to take that second job, and get that second pension, so you can collect 1.5x your salary until you die, probably with survivor benefits for your spouse.

You can be the biggest trump supporter in th world, but at the end of the day, does he matter to the bigger plan? No.

I have great compassion and sympathy for all police, even the ones who might support Democrats or treat people in a less than kind way. It’s a job I could not do, the beat cop job. (I’ve been a PI and could see myself as a detective, but not a beat cop.)

This thing will not result in a civil war. It will be decided in courts and by official actions. So the question of where local police fall is a moot one. But too often, here, they side with the mayor (as is their job, probably), like when our town center statue of Columbus was taken down in the middle of the night. You’re against a rock and a hard place as a cop. I’ve total sympathy.

Then each police officer needs to choose. I hope the unions back Law & Order.

Missed your comment, sorry! Beat cop is definitely a shitty job, which in my experience is why ive seen way more bad behavior from beat cops than good behavior. Not only is it a shitty job, but today, they are mostly revenue generators. Every pd in the towns around me, have a strict policy of must fine, no warnings. Back in the day, you would see all kinds of unfairness in warnings (i personally watched a cop pull over a woman so drunk she couldn’t even stand, and he gave her a ride home), but it stimulated good behavior because if you played nice with the cop, and were honest, there was at least a chance it would result in a warning. So if you get in caught doing anything today, you are getting a fat fine, made even fatter by fat court costs.

So the problem today is being a cop is a shitty job. And while you can pension out in 20 years, you arent going to be making much. So shitty job, low pay, attracts exactly the wrong candidate, someone who wants to be a cop for other (bad)reasons. Add in the fact that cops will never rat out another cop, and what good cops there are, cant possibly offset the bad ones.

So, yeah, im sympathetic too, and i support cops who uphold the law but only if they do so amongst their own ranks. And that is a very rare thing indeed. Im tired of the whole first responders are “heros” just because they hold that position, particularly when they dont even have the balls to put “protect and serve” on their cars, because they dont want you thinking they are there to do either of those things. Same with fireman, they might save your life if they dont have to risk theirs. But they might not. I think people think they are still there to protect property...

It will depend on the region and the cop in question. Some will be good, some will be traitors. This is the nasty thing about civil unrest. It is difficult to know who is on what side. Some will help us. Some will hurt us.

Most will do what they're told. The older ones may just go home to protect their families like they did in New Orleans during Katrina. Some will break out iinto maurading packs (again like during Katrina) in search of personal gain. Few will drop the badge and defend freedom unless more of their brothers do as well. Most will obey the political appointee's directives with clear conscience because they will be working under the "I'm just following orders" or "I got my brothers backs" (which is very powerfull) mentality. You've seen it when they were told to back down during the riots. You've seen it when they were told to back down during the looting and murders in the streets. You've seen it when they arrested the young lad in Wisconsin who was defending himself, with clear evidence on video, from grave bodily harm and/or death. You've seen it when they were told to acquiesce to the takeover of city blocks by terrorists. Sorry for the rant.
