While I would keep Rod at a very long arm's length, he does know what he is talking about. The guy actively participated in corruption himself and knows the in's and out's of how politicians work to retain their power. His acknowledgement alone is no different from a criminal exposing how other criminals conduct their crimes.

What was a strange pardon at the time is starting to make sense. I'm wondering if Rod helped with the Trump preemptive strategy on the 2020 election fraud? He would know the ins and outs of the machine.

I thought he deserved clemency just because what he was accused/convicted of was literally the least criminal thing anyone has done filling a Senate seat in the last 100 years.

He had something of great political value, and according to the tapes used to convict him, he wanted some political value out of the appointment. Not cash, drugs, or blowjobs, just a favor for a favor.

Icky? Sure, but criminal? Not compared to his cellmates in the governors wing of his prison.

His action doesn’t come close to some of the mayors of Chicago,Baltimore,Atlanta,D.C.it might seem like a harsh statement but these cities mirror third world corruption.

Isn't it the same with a bunch of Illinois Governors though? Like I remember seeing something a while back about how 6 of the last 10 of them were charged with federal crimes.

Yes. Blago tried to sell Obama’s senate seat. Guy before him was nailed for selling trucking licenses to unqualified people and it all came to light when one of the truckers killed a family. And it goes on and on. 4/7 governors between 1961 and 2009 went to prison for things they did in office and more were investigated.

Illinois is possibly the most corrupt state in the country. The Chicago political machine is basically all powerful in the state.

It's like when black hats turn into white hats. When an expert in a field speaks out, it's good to pay attention. Especially when they've been burned by the other side.

I wrote to him when he was in prison & he contacted me after he got out, and I’ve listened to his podcast religiously.

I think he’s innocent but he is still a Democrat as he proclaims to be and supported Trump in 2016 while he was in prison.
