Your ear lobes are free or connected by your genetic code age has nothing to do with growing new skin.
By genetic code you either have free hanging ear lobes, or connected lobes that don't hang freely. Joe used to have free hanging lobes, this guy has the genetic trait where the lobe is attached directly to his cheek/face.
