It means even more than this.

It means you don't know if the bug was introduced in 1.0.2, 1.0.3, or 1.0.4.

It means you don't know if it was programmed as a bug or was intentional.

It means you don't know where the data is being sent, how secure the line to it is, or if it's being man-in-the-middle attacked.

It means you don't know if numbers were changed by hand on the backend, or if some algorithm automatically adjusted them based on variable input.

It means you don't know what data is being written on the backend, despite what you press or what the printout tells you.

It means whenever the machines were checked for validity doesn't matter, because each update would theoretically require a brand new validity check, and despite that, still doesn't mean the end results are equal to the input.
