Look up:

Plex, Radarr, Sonarr,Jackett, qBitorrent, and a VPN

That should get anyone started here.

(VPN IS THE MOST IMPORTANT STEP, YOU NEED PROTECTION)

Also, there are many streaming sites where you can watch series and movies for free and without advertising, if you use an adblocker. Torrenting might be illegal, streaming isn't.

I use streamonhd.me, but there are many others.

Hollywood will never get another cent from me.

Torrenting is not illegal. Torrenting movies without authorization is illegal, and so is streaming them.

That's due to company policy, not laws.

That fucks over the streaming site while Hollywood still gets paid. Better to pirate and only hurt Hollywood.

Can you tell me what adblocker works best with those in your experience?

For my web browser I use uBlock origin. On my phone I use Brave browser with built-in adblock.

Brave browser comes with a built in adblocker that works great.

Those are great options if you primarily watch stuff on your laptop/pc

I like to stream to my living room TV. I also share with my technologically impaired parents.

Plex is the easist and cleanest. Automatically organizes everything, just download to the folders. The only thing I cheat on is media since they all hate us, feels good to steal from them.

Look into kodi

https://kodi.tv/download

There's also plugins for pirates.

I used XBMC (Kodi) up until 2016. But wasn't impressed with the lack of app support on smart tv devices (Apple TV and Fire TV)

So i switched to Plex.

I have one of my PC outputs going into my Xbox One HDMI In - when I want to watch something on my TV, I flip the audio to HDMI on my PC, tell my Xbox to Watch TV and start the video on the PC.

I used to get latency issues with the Xbox passthrough.

Grab a

  1. raspberry pi,
  2. sd card (I use at least 32GB)
  3. download/grab this image: https://libreelec.tv/downloads_new/
  4. and follow these install directions: https://wiki.libreelec.tv/libreelec_usb-sd_creator

And you will then have Kodi media player. From here you can install plugins(they are like chrome extensions) like Fen, Elementum, cloudTV. (There's so much more that comes with KODI)

From here you can now remove netflix, amazon, hulu, etc....

*Note: You should use a VPN when torrenting! (NORDVPN, ProtonVPN, there are plenty to choose from.... choose.... wisely)

I used to love Kodi. But I realized that Plex had support on modern streaming devices (like Apple TV and Fire TV)

So i switched and havn't looked back.. the only thing I miss are the plugins.. but I personally don't really see myself using them.

Plex is amazing given that it’s free.

Same. I just use Plex for my media server and there's so much free content out there to put on my Roku's that I don't need more. Spending all day and night watching TV is not what I want to be doing with my free time.

Hell yeah!

Look into Jellyfin rather than Plex.

Also usenet over SSL and you won't have to worry about a VPN.

PLEX, VMWare, qBitorrent and Private internet access as a VPN. you will be watching your tv shows and movies for pennies compared to what you pay now and you don't have to watch commercials!

https://torrentfreak.com/best-vpn-anonymous-no-logging/

That'll help you out. No logging is top, especially if it's been proven in court.
