They've had teams of rivals if you will, at some points in history, but never in the modern era where the vice president is selected by the candidate (Lieberman flirted with McCain for the position before he chose Palin)
You're right about that. I think Palin would have supported much of the same policies Trump implemented. The difference is that Trump could take those arrows and take them while driving liberals crazy. Palin could not, but they attacked her, slandered her, tried to destroy her family, the same way they have with Trump. Palin is someone that I would support if she ever decided to run again, without hesitation.
I say these things and must admit, I was much younger in 2008, and Bush's presidency had me hating any republican. I knew Mccain was a fraudulent snake, and Bush had just brought the nation to recession.. I misread who Sarah Palin was and that was a mistake in judgement on my part. I believe and pray that I've learned from that mistake.
Ditto for me, exactly. I'm ashamed to say I voted for Obama first term. As you say, Bush's presidency was so bad I just wanted a Democrat. And anyway my whole family--parents/siblings/uncles/aunts/cousins--have voted straight Democrat since FDR. So had I, till Obama's second term, by which time I'd switch the TV channel the second I saw this jug-eared crook's face.
I regret to say I lost my Republican virginity (and vote) in 2012 when another RINO was running. But I know my vote for Trump is RIGHTEOUS. And the Republicans are now the party of the people. Count me Red till I'm dead. And to Blue I say Fuck You.
The democrat party needs to be destroyed. I am similar to you, and many here I'm sure, that voted for Obama his first term. It wasn't white guilt as many liberals say. I thought he'd be better than McCain and I thought he would not be as radical as many warned. Plus, my grandfather was an fdr democrat similar to your family. He was my hero and always talked about the democrats being the party of the working man and that came naturally from the new deal policies and growing up in the shadow of the great depression. However, before he passed, we talked about Obama and he was no fan. His point of contention was over abortion. I believe he would have been a big fan of Trump. We all have different paths to get to where we are but I'm on board. The democrat party is today broken to the core and beyond repair. Our country did the right thing in senate races, House races, state legislatures, and the presidential race as well. I pray the steal is stopped.
