Thanksgiving 2016 - My cousin's husband (one of my closest friends, groomsman in my wedding) insisted on digging as to whether I voted for Hillary. I let him know that I sat out the vote (for the first time in my voting life, would never vote Hillary, and made the mistake of not voting for Trump). He then screamed at me over Thanksgiving dinner that I "let Hitler take power".

Basically told my friend that the presidency is not official yet and shared the politico article about the Georgia glitch. He said anyone who supports trump lacks any moral character. I told him to reign in the insults and at the same time I kind of 'came out' about my support for trump and asked him try to be an adult and that I wouldn't insult him for having views. I then opened up about how the past three years have been hard for me and my partner as we feel ostracised and you guys know the rest. I even tried to use his tolerant language and used the word 'hurtful'.
I wrote like 3 or 4 paragraphs. He responded with one line - I stand by my statement on trump supporters.
Apparently this is fairly common around the world, my partners in a UK for trump group and lots of similar stories. Something has woken something up. This is the hate less world they were after I guess.
Their governments policies are so common sense that there is no opposition party. Plus their mainstream medias journalistic standards are so high that people don't even have a concept of alternate news. Inspiring.
We're dealing with people who have misplaced identity, no tie to the soil they were born on, no conviction to their roots and history they are a part of.
For those qualities put you squarely into the xenophobe camp according to these godless, rootless, insufferable and unbrotherly sacks of shit.
There can be no unity, when our side feels that losing the America we know is a real existential crisis, and their side wants to dismantle it.
