I remember Karl Rove, who I have no love for, was incredulous and dejected on live TV, and i believe he walked off the set. I remember thinking that he seemed to be a man that just realized he’d become obsolete. He effectively disappeared from the political scene after that.

Rove was from the Nixon “ratfucker” school of politics, so I was surprised he gave up so completely. Upon reflection, I think it may be he realized a newer, more sinister version of smashmouth politics was happening, and he was out of the loop in this new field.
