As a person in Texas who is in his constituency, he has never been as bad as people on here say.
He has always been very middle between globalism and populism while being very Christian Paleocon. However, he always kept his promises to Texas as much as possible.
When he ran against Trump his name was heavily tarnished (a lot due to his own strategies) because that's what happens in a primary. Kamala tarred and feathered Biden, true or not and Trump did the same to everyone on stage to win.
Honestly, Cruz looked bad sinking to Trump's level during the 2016 primaries. I actually didn't vote for either of them at my county assembly (I was a delegate) because I didn't like Trump yet and was disappointed in Cruz.
In retrospect, I think it was far more important to have Cruz supporting Trump from the Senate than it would have been to have him in the White House unsupported, even if my initial preconceptions about Trump had been anywhere near accurate. No matter how great the general, he still needs his army.
