Yes, republicans have been calling for better laws for ages. The republican supporters and the republican politicians. And that is why the red states already have better election laws on average than the blue states.
But unfortunately the Democrats have been able to block every significant federal law + every single law on state level in blue states.
If some European countries now decided to destroy their citizen registry & do what the US does, not knowing who actually live there and who don't, it would be a humangous scandal, and it would not be allowed.
And if someone started to say we should vote by mail, they would throw it out in courts, because the vote would not be guaranteed to be secret after that.
