I would think that on a state level they would inherently be less corrupt because they wield less power. Most of those guys have jobs outside of public office.
It's easier to get non-swampy reps at the state level. There's still some, but those tend towards demonrat, since they're more likely from large metropolitan areas, while the republican reps tend to be smaller, rural communities that won't stand for that nonsense.
They are also DIRECTLY accountable to the people who elected them. If they don't do this, their political careers are over and they know it. So they WILL do it. Fear not.
