It's pretty common for fundraisers to have matches during certain times to help boost participation. You typically don't get to see who the grantors are that pledge the matching, but I also imagine that you'd be breaking all kinds of laws if you were to lie about having a donation match campaign when you really don't have matches going on. (I can't cite any laws, but it's fraudulent behavior related to finances, it must be illegal to lie about such things)

Matches are common and legit. This happens to be the biggest one that I've ever seen myself (1x matches in general are fairly common. Trump campaign has had up to 8x in the past, but the current 10x blows away anything I've seen before).
