If you don’t have access to, or the knowledge to run a mill, get you a decent drill press, you can do it with a hand drill, but it’s not an enjoyable process. Get a decent vice as well. If you have some pretty good equipment you can mill the 80’s out no problem. Keep in mind you’ll never be able to get it as clean as a cnc machine, you’ll need to do some manual clean up with rasps and files. I’ve done a pretty good job with a good drill press before, if you are able, learn how to and check the runout on your drill press and adjust accordingly, you’ll get a cleaner finish.
The only part of an AR-15 that you need an FFL licensee to buy through. Essentially, it’s the housing of the gun, missing the stock, barrel, trigger group, buffer, and most important the suppressor!
