McStain and Romney were both cowards, Ron Paul didn't have the influence to counter Fox's specifically-tailored lack of coverage of his 2012 GOP primary campaign, the entire Bush family is tied at the hip with the Clintons, Bob Dole quit politics after losing several major campaigns, Reagan suffered from both "injuries from a failed assassination attempt" and Alzheimer's in his later years, Nixon was so paranoid about a JFK-style assassination that he resigned over something he had nothing to do with, and Gerald Ford was the weak-willed VP who lost to Jimmy "1-term" Carter.
The last Republican presidential fighter was Dwight D. Eisenhower back in 1952-1960, LONG before even the most "famous" modern reporters like Bob Woodward got into journalism, so the entire media industry expects Republicans to be an easy scapegoat/doormat.
