I posted a link to an article out here about #SHARPIEGATE a few days ago. Thought it would be a good idea to send to some associates via text message. I sent the link and forwarded a tweet from Team Trump regarding a possible Trump Pennsylvania win. Come to find out TMobile immediately disabled my ability to send text messages. No notice, just done. Called them and I was accused of sending spam. Sent 2 messages to 10 like minded people in a 10 minute period. Shut down for 10 days. No outbound messages for me. How isn't that illegal? Curating content? They should lose their section 230 protections if they have any.

I use Pure Talk. Here's my experience switching: https://thedonald.win/p/11PVthoyup/i-see-too-many-pedes-still-suffe/c/

I'm also in California. My reception is much better now and the data is very good, even when camping.

I'm in Cali, I use Spectrum mobile but I think it requries you to have Spectrum internet service in order to be eligible. I send pro-Trump stuff all the time, I've never been censored. My previous carrier was MetroPCS but the service was straight ass from bad service to texts that fail to get delivered way too often.

Wow. Try to get your friends to use Signal. Everything is completely encrypted. Snowden-approved.

15
pbel_proc [S] 15 points ago +15 / -0

Already on it!

oxygen 8 points ago +8 / -0

To be clear, any people you text through Signal who don't have Signal, is no different than sending a regular text. You both have to have it. You can use things like Whatsapp, but they are all part of big tech, not as private, etc.

8
brassmule 8 points ago +8 / -0

WhatsApp was bought by Facebook several years ago, and now evidence suggests that Facebook is reading the content to tailor ads to people.

Pedes should not use WhatsApp.

4
Induceddrag 4 points ago +4 / -0

I can confirm that WhatsApp messages affect your ad content on FB. WhatsApp was working when a lot of other stuff wasn’t in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria. I was involved in relief operations and was texting my colleagues about radio equipment. Magically, my ads on FB started included a bunch of obscure radio equipment. Switched to Signal. That stuff stopped.

WhatsApp is probably fairly secure between individuals because the encryption keys are only kept on those devices. Group chat on WhatsApp have server based keys.

On Signal all encryption is on the users’s devices. Downside is that group administration isn’t as slick. Upside, fucking Zuckerberg isn’t monitoring your chat.

1
brassmule 1 point ago +1 / -0

Yeah, my family uses Telegram for casual chat and Signal for anything else.

5
Tazmanian 5 points ago +5 / -0

Agreed. Signal sounds better too.

And when you are forced to use the PSTN (public switched telephone network) - do it through MySudo. Carriers might still be able to catch it on the receiving end, but it's more likely they only monitor senders. MySudo sends your text to a reliable cloud provider. EFF gave Twillo an award for always challenging federal wiretap orders in court. Most of the time, the feds just walk away. They don't want their unconstitutional actions to fall under inspection.

All of the cell carriers should never be trusted.

My issues with Signal is that it requires a phone number to setup an account. They are also owned or funded by Twitter. The security is supposedly good and the code is open source, but if you have issues with either of those try something else.

I use WickrMe, which it's what SOCOM recommends for their soldiers to use in foreign countries to prevent foreign intelligence snooping. No phone number to create an account, end-to-end AES 256 encryption, Burn-On-Read messages and attachments, source code is publicly available.

2
oxygen 2 points ago +2 / -0

Thanks for the info about WickrMe. A great tool to add to the bag. Awesome.

1
oxygen 1 point ago +1 / -0

They are also owned or funded by Twitter.

They are owned by the EFF, which is really good. Signal is legit.

1
PhilosoGuido 1 point ago +1 / -0

I don't know if ownership has since transferred, but Twitter acquired Whisper Systems in 2011.

https://venturebeat.com/2011/11/28/twitter-buys-whisper-systems/

1
oxygen 1 point ago +1 / -0

Signal is not owned by Twitter. The Open Whisper Systems that turned into Signal was an independent fork that occurred afterwards. Basically, Twitter released the software free and openly after they acquired Whisper Systems, and then Open Whisper Systems was created by people who left so that they could continue building on that software. Whisper Systems isn't even around anymore.

1
PhilosoGuido 1 point ago +1 / -0

Well, that's good news. Still requires a phone number to set up an account, so I'm sticking with WickrMe.

2
oxygen 2 points ago +2 / -0

Just to clarify, Signal requires a phone number, not your phone number. It's not sim-based. I have it linked to a VOIP number, even though when I use it to send sms texts it sends from my phone's native sim card phone number. The nice thing about Signal is it replaces your phone's native SMS text messaging app. There are no disadvantages to having it because you're still going to send regular SMS text messages from time to time anyway. All it does is it means if anyone else you are texting happens to have Signal, it defaults to using Signal. But if not, it's just like sending any other normal SMS text message. I have WickrMe and Signal both now.

1
Tazmanian 1 point ago +1 / -0

Never heard about any Twitter connection. Believe the millionaire sponsoring them owned What'sapp. And he had a falling out with Zuckerberg because Z wanted to wiretap users.

The coder behind Signal is a hippyfreak - but reputed to be the best in the business. I've read accounts of big name university professors wondering how this guy can code so well.

1
oxygen 1 point ago +1 / -0

So you can send regular SMS texts to people through MySudo and it at least offers some higher level of potential for privacy?

2
Tazmanian 2 points ago +2 / -0

Yes. Look it over. May not be right for you...but they tried very hard and mostly succeeded.

They keep everything in house on their PBX (believe that's the loophole they used to get past CALA). Communications into the greater PSTN are performed through Twilio. And Twilio is the most provide carrier available. No other carrier has won an award from the EFF.

Beware, Telegram does not have E2EE by default and if you don’t encrypt your chat, then your data is stored on Telegram’s servers, which puts the security of your messages at risk.

I use WickrMe, which it's what SOCOM recommends for their soldiers to use in foreign countries to prevent foreign intelligence snooping. No phone number to create an account, end-to-end AES 256 encryption, Burn-On-Read messages and attachments, source code is publicly visible.

ISIS uses a lot of stuff. That doesn't mean it's bad. It just means it's useful. If some antifa guy uses Signal (which is known to have happened), that doesn't mean it should be avoided.

I use telegram with my buds, had signal but I find telegram much more enjoyable to shitpost on

Report this to the FCC. You likely have grounds for a lawsuit.

2

Send e-mails so they admit it in writing and get a consultation with an attorney.

2
FreeKyle2020 2 points ago +2 / -0

If that really happened, you need to sue. This is an infringement of your first amendment rights.

2

I know someone like minded with t mobile.

They cannot receive .win links. I have Verizon. AT&T can get my links. We tested At&T -> t mobile. Also blocked.

What's more, t mobile account tried to send me a gun video link from YouTube. It was never allowed out. Every other text worked.

1
novacav 1 point ago +1 / -0

While this wouldn't surprise me, T-mobile has a pretty aggressive anti-spam service, which is nice, but could be fucking up. You should get on the phone with support and I bet they'll reverse it.

If not that's fucked up and cancel them ASAP.

1
pbel_proc [S] 1 point ago +1 / -0

They won't reverse it... Tried Cancel and go to who? AT&T is TMobile is Sprint is Boost... All the same company Is there another GSM carrier?

1

Use the Signal "app. End to end encryption and compatibility with all your security unconscious friends messaging apps

1
brassmule 1 point ago +1 / -0

What article did you link?

I buy my own phones and use Cricket (which uses ATT towers). I'm curious if I would get censored or not.

Personally, my family and friends all use Telegram for text message communication now.

This has been occurring for multiple providers.

If you have been sending out td.win links, those are likely being evaluated as spam because dodgy gambling sites have been created in the *.win domain (which is supposed to be games and Windows) and spammed via text messages.

Text messaging is the "new frontier" in spamming, after competent email administrators have effectively blocked them. The carriers are scrambling to cope.
