Realistically, everyone in the Republican party knows that Trump has a big ego. They probably expected him to refuse to concede at first, and a lot of the more cautious ones waited to see if his claims had legs before taking sides.

McConnell is actually a brilliant man even though he has opposed Trump a number of times. Frankly I think he came to the realization that he could lose his leadership position, and that was his main drive in jumping on board. As far a Rubio goes, he is a perfect example of a "fair-weather friend". Regardless of their motives, it's a good sign they are backing Trump.

Trump may hold some rallies and it would be nice to have VP there but let's face it, Trump by himself is the equivalent of an absolutely massive trebuchet and fortified citadel all at the same time.
