I very much dislike when they say something not only false, but obviously false. Something so absurd that it challenges reality.

1984 type of haunting distortion. Since the first read, it was extremely uncomfortable because it shows reality can actually be manipulated under an oppressive force. Reality is reality, but does it matter under such horrible circumstances? This echoes that situation.
