I think the first priority was to win and have Trump concede. Knowing Trump they figured he probably wouldn’t concede and the courts would be in their favor. RGB dying wasn’t part of the plan.

The back up plan was Trump “stealing” the election. It sets up a new narrative about Trump being an illegitimate president needing to be impeached. They weren’t counting on losing so many house seats and not taking control of the senate.
