Thanks for explaining. I’m not sure I agree with the reasoning though.

If I have a chance to save American lives by doing something that barely affects me then I’ll do it. Your reasons could also be said about eg: drivers licenses, but they’re a good thing for society as they prevent Americans dying in accidents.
