Have you listened or read Jordan Peterson at all? I was in a similar, if not the same boat you were in. His content made me really rethink some things and helped me see things more clearly.

I never personally experienced anything beyond the physical, perhaps one reason I fell out of the church. But before the election I had a couple of very new experiences. One way I can interpret them is as you say. Maybe it just took me a while to learn to hear.
