I consider myself to be a Libertarian, but I do realize it is an ideology. For me, it suffices to have leadership that moves in a more Libertarian direction instead of a leader who is about big government.
Reduce the size of the state, slash regulations, etc. This is exactly why I like Trump. Also, the double standards of the Left/Democrats. I can not stand those. Trump exposed them better than anyone before, imho.
There's only two types of Libertarians.
Anarchist or Democrat.
If the latter sounds misapplied, nearly every Libertarian when asked, votes D, never R.
Libertarians believe in liberty for criminals and laws for the decent. They believe in license, not liberty. Liberty, if you read Montaigne, Paine, Descarte, and Schlegal, is the freedom to choose to exercise responsibility. That's it. Libertarians do not want, nor believe they are, responsible for their fellow man.
Libertarianism is evil.
Libertarians largely can't see how libertarian Trump is. If Ron Paul had won and tried to enact his policies in term one, he would have been dead within weeks. Trump is a Ninja Libertarian.
This. The problem is all they can see is him tarif-ing China as an infringement on capitalism, when really all it is is geopolitics. They are not at war with us literally, they are war with us economically. Trump seems like the only one to get this.
Libertarians have many flaws. One of the main ones is that their ideas require a textbook (almost utopian) society to uphold themselves.
I'd actually argue that we aren't just in an economic war with China, but also a slow moving war of subversion and attrition with them. Libertarian ideas fail on this type of conflict - there is no fair fight, by design. The opponents do not care about a non-aggression principle.
China is aware of the conflict and moving towards a goal as our nation's citizens and many leaders are mostly oblivious.
Hippies weren't at war with us originally. A lot of Libertarians are morphing into dismissive narcissists. They supported Jo Jorgensen, who supported BLM. Why? A Libertarian to vote for... whee!
I still can't understand how any self-respecting libertarian could vote for her after she supported those marxists. Fake libertarian.
