WHY WAS THE NRA SO SILENT THIS ELECTION?

I find it stunning that in all the elections I have ever witnessed, I have never known them to be so conspicuously absent. Any thoughts out there as to why? It just seem very strange......

I read they are hurting for cash due to lawsuits but could be wrong.
