Dr.SHIVA Ayyadurai, MIT PhD: "Mathematics is how God reveals truth. It’s a skill you need to get 4 degrees at MIT. My team has uncovered - without equivocation - a clear & undeniable pattern in Michigan. We will be presenting the data shortly for everyone to see & judge for themselves"

I don't even think we need the 4 MIT degrees to see what happened here, lol.
The degrees aren't for you. They are for the elites who put up walls to block out people who don't get admittance to the ivory towers.
You might think that due to the fake science that the media keeps trotting out, that academic math often disproves general intuition. However, that's generally not the case. Pretty much each time a mathematical or economic idea goes against general intuition, it is disproven within 20 years.
You know that idea that humans are erroneously programmed to avoid losses even when an equal or greater gain is available? Well that's been disproven. It's actually VERY beneficial for humans to have loss aversion built-in. Later economics have shown that in pretty much every real world scenario, an equal loss is more detrimental than the equal gain is beneficial.
You can see this concept with your intuition. But now we can quantify these things to help business people build business models that have that adequate loss aversion built-in that you have naturally built inside you.
This mathematician is using real statistical models to show the degree of improbability that you feel naturally. Again, it's not for you, it's for the courts and the business people. It's to convince the elites who think human intuition is insufficient to prove the truth of the world. But that's why we do math and science. To communicate and bridge the gap between the human experience. To translate the world into a shared language and shared experience. And to make the world great again.
I was being a little sarcastic, hence my lol.
I know. I just want to reiterate why we need pedes to continue to pursue these studies if they have the propensity for them.
And I want to reiterate why your observation is just as valid, but valid in a more limited scope.
