You're exactly right. A month ago and it would have been blown into some massive attack campaign against him. Now any attack would be seen as giving him legitimacy.

I don't think most people realize that the last four years have been a relatively calm and restrained Donald Trump. I would expect total war once he's confirmed for his second term.
