My advice - write back an email ONLY responding to their claims. Either add a source or add citation needed.

Their TDS will not allow them to see past it today, but maybe over time.

Yes anytime you are communicating with unreasonable people or they are trying to throw you under the bus (friends, family, work, etc) - stick to facts and facts only. Do not opine. Just facts. Works awesome.

Yes. This behavior is probably representative of their narcissistic, controlling activity in general. Look into "narcissistic parents" and also how to talk to them. You'll probably find a lot to help you.
