They volunteer to continue to defend their country and no: they are not weekend warriors but experienced minute men with lots of previous experience. Trust me, they are not to be messed with. Think active duty but with immense experience.
Niece's husband was an MP, Indiana NG, recalled to AD for 10 yrs (after he'd already had 12 in,) isn't MP a combat arms? Wouldn't know as I'm USAF and if we've got any, I'd imagine they'd be combat controllers, SP's, or LE's.

MPs aren't a combat arm, they're police. The reserves don't have an infantry or scouts, tankers, etc.
Think about it this way, if a woman was allowed to do it back in the 90s it isn't a combat arm.
