Find me a bug detector that can find a bug in an LED light bulb with a switching power supply. Especially if it transfers in bursts.

Obfuscation is the game. And always many.

yes, just the electronics of the recorder running in the background will emit detectable signals if everything else in the room is turned off.

Either they didn't scan the room, or it leaked.

Or there's just so many electronic devices around everywhere that 1 more wouldn't raise any alarms.

Much harder in a room filled with electronics. You can secure a room but ad hoc would be a total pain in the ass.
