I want to help by saving videos before they are taken down, but I am tech challenged and on top of that, have linux. I tried using youtube dl but got a message that it wouldn't work. Someone said I'd need python, tried to download that, but there was so much stuff I didn't understand. It's not like a regular download. If you know how to help me, please do. Can dm me if you prefer. Thanks.

linux usually comes with python. Open a command line and type python --version

based on your name I'm going to assume you're using the gnome window manager? the command line would be available with gnome terminal.
