I have access to the pacer monitor which lets you track court cases.

Today the Trump vs PA case started.

Some updates people might find interesting:

Boockvar wanted the case transferes from Williamsport where it is now to Harrisburg. This was denied. I’m not sure if there is anything more to read into that but if anyone can make any points regarding this context, please do.

Plaintiffs and Defendant are scheduled to file their motions (for relief and dismiss respectively) tomorrow and follow up responses by 16th.

Oral arguments set for 17th at 1:30 pm.

Evidentiary hearing is the 19th.

I think it's a good sign that change of venue motion was denied. Harrisburg is the capitol of PA, most capitol cities are full of politicians, bureaucrats and Democrats. Better to stay put, where it was filed.

do you know what the basis for the transfer request was? Were any reasons for denying the request given?

Basis was that it is more convenient for her because they’re busy setting up to certify the election/paperwork etc and that it’s a hassle to get everyone to travel. Dismissal didn’t say reason in the brief summary but they might upload a pdf with the actual ruling reasons and I’ll let you know.

Straight shot up Rt. 15, two hour trip maybe. She’ll live!

in my experience, convenience to a lawyer or party is not the test. change of venue requests smell of judge shopping!!

Exactly and that’s my point. Boockvar will live with that trip up the road. No need to change venue.

I’m going with judge shopping too, given the demographics around Williamsport and local support team Trump would have there.

I thought I read it was going before an Obama appointee, but Williamsport had always been deep red territory and it’s seen a huge boom lately from nearby fracking operations.

Yeah it’s a Obama appointee so hopefully while Democrat pick maybe he was annoyed by the request and that will set the “mood”

We can hope. Judges can be quite fickle.

Thank you. Does it list the judge's name? Two are Republican, Sallie Mundy and Thomas Saylor. Sallie Mundy was appointed by a Dem governor. Just wondering if either of those two are presiding on the case. And I don't even know if that would matter. LOL

Matthew Brann

Thanks. All ballotpedia says is he's non partisan, district judge of the middle district of PA.

Thanks for this.

As for the move, Williamsport (if it’s still like it was when I went to college there) is serious Trump (Republican) territory and has seen a big boom thanks to fracking. It’s friendly territory for us, unlike Harrisburg where local pressure could influence things. I know we’re not looking at juries and the like, but local temperament could be part of the factor for the request?

I guess one would maybe look at the judge's in each of those jurisdictions as a starting point...

Can you export and upload the court documents and any other primary sources? I love shit like that.

I have some of the MI affidavits but am missing the ones from PA.

I’ll have to check. I’m on a free trial of the database and some stuff requires payment.
