I think it's the same reason a druggy will start shooting up harder drugs right on the other side of a curtain at a kids birthday party. They get an entirely seperate rush from disgusting the average person and still being just as acceptable as anyone else(as in they THINK they pull as much weight, that's a discussion for a case-by-case examination though) and pulling the same weight.
